Ayah

Ayah is a 16 year old girl from Qatar and is the protagonist of the story. She’s very quiet and enjoys keeping to herself. She doesn’t enjoy being the center of attention and tries to remain on the side lines. Her clothing style helps influence that with her familiar and comfortable sweaters. She is a character that is a metaphor for character growth in different aspects.

Layla

Layla is a supporting character and also one of Ayah’s friends. She is also 16 and from India. She’s known to be free-spirited, confident, not afraid to face anything that stands in her way. She is true to herself and doesn’t care about what people think. Her sense of style expresses her laid back personality and her hair represents her freedom of expression.

Nour

Nour is the antagonist of the story. She is secretly a jinn that has shapeshifted into the form of a young girl. She is presented to be shy, awkward, and plain. She is unaware of how to act like a human in this day and age and her clothing helps expand on that. Her sense of style represents this by showing her in clothing that make her seem socially invisible to stand out less.

Sila

Sila is the true form of Nour and is illustrated to portray a more raggedy and spider-like monster. She has the ability to shapeshift into anyone and manipulate them using their personality and memories. She has lived through centuries and has even encountered someone with similar abilities to Ayah before.
